Social Media Etiquette 101

I think I may do a friendly reminder once a quarter to remind everyone that there are general rules to social media etiquette. A few weeks ago, Facebook tried to steer us along the way with their 'purge' of sorts when it came to inactive group members.

Check out a few rules that I follow when I'm using social media!

1. That poke button, yeah just don't use it. I think that one is self-explanatory and nothing else needs to be said here. AND YES, people do STILL use that button and POKE!

2. ALL CAPS. No need to scream at your audience. You do want them to read your message and return to your profile at some point right?

3. Be Professional - fake names don't belong on LinkedIn, there are other platforms for that.

4. Keep Private matters as such...private matters in a private message.

5. Don't take someone else's content or pictures and re-post without their permission. Give credit...ALWAYS!

I know these all sound really really simple but you wouldn't believe how often I see these glaring mistakes happening across all platforms, even within emails every day.
